is it ok to prune my purple fountain grass to allow bush to become denser?...bush seems to thin out when it blooms...it is 3months old.
also, what can you recommend for my garden soil?...i have lantana, pursline, plumeria, wandering jew, creeping jenny ,jasmine and mexican heather in the garden..i would like a suggestion for an additive to help encourage growth... i use peters' plant food but the plants dont seem to really be flourishing..

Peter,

Pruning won't help a lot as far as making the thing bushier. It will grow larger and denser in time as you go through another season or so. The best thing you can do for your soil is to add compost prior to planting anything. Then water moderately and fertilize periodically. Peters is acutally fine as is Miracle Gro. I might also consider using a turf type fertilizer such as a 15-5-10 at a rate of 1-2 cups per 100 square feet of soil surface area. It is getting late now to fertilize but you can begin again in about March or April.
