| We had a heavy snow last week, causing several limbs of my Redbud Tree to droop down to the ground. Even after removing the accumulated snow, the limbs remained on the ground. I have tied the limbs back up with rope, but is there something I should do to help the tree recover? Can the limbs be saved? |
| It would probably be best to remove the limbs that were damaged by the snow. They are in a weakened state now and thus, more susceptible to disease. Also, because they are weak, another storm could break them completely off which would almost definitely split the bark in the process. I don't know how big your tree is, or, how many of the limbs were damaged, but if it seems like more than you care to deal with, consult a local tree trimmer to come out and do the job. Be sure to select a person with a license to do the work and check references. You obviously care about your tree, you want someone you can trust working on it. |
