The Q&A Archives: Will hydrangeas grow in Phoenix

Question: Will the new Endless Summer Hydrangea survive in Phoenix if I move it inside for the worst of the summer?

Answer: Hydrangeas are not particularly happy in Phoenix, although some nurseries sell them. If you have your heart set on growing Endless Summer, find a site with early morning sun and protection from summer sun from 10 a.m. on. As long as the hydrangea gets a few hours of morning sun, it should grow well and bloom for you. I wouldn't try to move it in and out - simply find a mostly shady site and remember to keep the soil moist but not soggy wet. Best wishes with your new hydrangea!
