The Q&A Archives: Help with Geraniums

Question: My geraniums that I planted in a north facing bed
have quit bloonming. I have cut back the dead flowers and removed the dead leaves but, they look bad. What can I do to revitalize them through Houston's heat?

Answer: Kim,

They like sun in spring but need a bright shade in the Texas heat when summer arrivews. If the shade is too bright they may not be able to bloom well. I think your cutting them back with a little feeding to give them a boost (use a soluble product such as Miracle Gro or similar fertilizer) will help prepare them for some new growth and hopefully some fall blooms.
