In my area I am able to put most of my houseplants outdoors for the summer and they do very well. However they also pickup earwigs and ants ands spiders of all kinds that move right in. How do I clean off all these creatures so as not to bring them indoors with the plants, especially those little red garden spiders!!? |
In my experience, spraying the plants with a good spray of water from the garden hose plus possibly a treatment with insecticidal soap helps to cut down on the "hitchikers". Some gardeners also water the plant thoroughly and turn the pot on its side for a day or so to allow some of the soil dwellers to crawl out just prior to bringing the pots indoors. I hope this helps. |
