What is the cultural care for carex buchananii? Does it need sun, part sun, shade? Well drained soil or damp? When should it be pruned back?

The following care information from the Kemper Center at Missouri Botanical Garden should help. It is somewhat flexible with sun, half day is fine. The soil should be moist but well drained meaning damp like a wrung out sponge, but not sopping wet or saturated. I would not prune it back unless it is severely winter damaged at which time you would remove the dead tips.

Enjoy your sedge -- it is a very cool plant.
