I would like to dig up my lace cap hydrangea as it has overgrown the bed I have it in. Would this be better done in the fall or next spring?

You can transplant your shrub this fall, after the weather cools, or early next spring just as new growth begins. Either way, be sure to water deeply once each week to help the roots establish themselves in their new home. Best wishes with your landscape!
