I see phlox advertized in the catalogs. I live in Zone 4, Iowa. Is now a good time to buy phlox?

Your local professional nursery staff can help you determine if it is a good idea or not, it depends somewhat on your expected frost date and when the soil actually freezes hard. You want to allow about 8 weeks minimum between planting and the time your ground freezes. The reasoning is to give the plants ample time to become rooted before the cold weather and freeze/thaw cycles of fall and spring.
