The Q&A Archives: Which trees to choose?

Question: We are about to landscape and looking at several varieties of trees. We like Fall color and want a tree whose roots will not be destructive to concrete and asphalt. Needless to say we want trees that do not have

Answer: I think the most trouble-free of those you've mentioned are the Bradford Pear and the Liquidambar. The foliage on the non-producing tree are exactly the same (non-productive is male; seed producers are female). Enjoy your landscape!
