I have an azalea plant that has lost all its leaves but the plant is not dead. What happened?

Sudden leaf drop in azaleas can indicate water stress (either drought or soggy conditions caused by poor drainage), or the reaction to chemicals sprayed on or near the plant. A healthy azalea will produce new foliage. Hope yours does!
