Boston Ferns can grow into monsterous plants when given good care. You can unpot your plant and divide it into many new plants. Water the fern well a few hours before you plan to divide it. This will make handling it much easier. Lay the plant on its side and cut through it with a sharp knife (or even a pruning saw). Just make sure that each division has a healthy section of roots along with some green fronds. It will take several months for the new divisions to shed their old foliage and develop healthy new fronds, so don't give up on them while they look puny and unattractive. Each division will have the potential to reach the same size as your original plant. Enjoy!
