Hi. I have 4 Gardeana bushes. Last year they started to get a kind of black powder on the botom?? They havent died. But how do I get ridd of it? Or should I get rid of them? Mary, |
Mary, That is most likely sooty mold which grows on the sugary exudates from scale, mealybugs, whiteflies or aphids. If you can identify the pest then a proper remedy can be prescribed. Otherwise you might try a neem oil product. Thorough coverage is critical and a few repeat applications a couple of weeks apart will be needed to get better control. Thanks for the question.
