Your zip code places you in USDA zone 8a. Average winter lows are 10?F to 15?F. Among other things, you can grow Arbutus unedo (Strawberry tree); Choisya temata (Mexican orange); Olearia haastii (New Zealand daisy-bush); Pittosporum tobira (Japanese pittosporum); Prunus laurocerasus (Cherry-laurel)and Viburnum tinus (Laurestinus). As you're choosing plants for your landscape, make sure they are hardy to at least zone 8a and they should grow well in your garden.
