My karly carpa's have gotten too large for their spot, when can I safely trim them down some, I realize they now has berries on them (good for the birds). Thank you!! |
The optimum time to prune Callicarpa would be in late winter to early spring before it begins to grow again for the season. It blooms on new growth of the year so this timing should not limit blooming or berries. I would not prune now as this might stimulate late season growth that would not harden properly before winter and could cause excessive dieback as a result. |
