The Q&A Archives: Starting Hollyhocks Indoors

Question: I'm in zone 6 with the last frost scheduled for April 20th. How early can I start your hollyhocks indoors under my gro-lights?

Answer: You should probably sow the seed somewhere between February 23 and March 9. Be sure to remember all the seed starting basics: sterile, soilless seed starting medium, adequate water (but not too much), good lighting (sounds like you have got that covered), good air circulation, and a diluted simple analysis fertilizer such as Miracle-Gro.
