I have a Meyer lemon tree about 6 mos old and there are little sprouts coming out near the base of the tree. Should I trim them off?

It isn't unusual for citrus trees to produce suckers (non-productive shoots) at the base or from the roots. Cut these away as soon as you notice them so they won't sap the strength from your tree.
