| Hi....I have what it used to be a beautiful croton, but like three weeks ago it started to lose many leaves (like 6-8) everyday, and I had it outside at the port car,I live in Killeen Tx , where we have a warm but not hot weather now, and i thought it was okay....so when the problem started I just kept changing it to different spots in fact I brought it inside the house, there was where I could take a better look and see it ahve a very high pupolation (he) of tiny spiders, they are everywhere in the palnt, on the leaves, steams, I used Ortho on it but didn't seem to help much, I don't know what else to do, thanks... |
| Liliana, Spiders don't affect plants but they may have just been a brood of spiders that had recently hatched out. Perhaps they were there to eat some other insects on the plants. Dropping leaves is usually a symptom of a root problem. In a container it is easy to keep the soil too dry or too wet for a time and this will be followed by a leaf drop. Check the soil and keep it moist. Move the plant back out to an area with bright light but not suddenly into a direct sun. The plant needs light and won't do well indoors for very long. Hopefull it will recover and resume new growth. In winter it will need to come in to a bright spot as it can't take the freezing cold. Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon! |
