my husband and I have been clearing our back yard a little bit. We have come across a wisteria vine that is out of control. It has spread every where and is climbing the trees and killing them. My question is how do I kill this vine? W e do not want this.
Thank you for your time.

Wisteria, as with many large vines, can be difficult to deal with once it has escaped or gotten out of control. You can try cutting it back to the ground and recutting it as soon as it begins to grow, cut it faithfully each time it grows back. Alternatively, cut it and then smother it by placing a layer of cardboard over it and cover that with a thick layer of organic mulch. If it resprouts, repeat. This will eventually exhaust the roots. However, this can take a long time. Instead, you might want to try using an herbicide containg glyphosate. Be sure to read and carefully follow all of the label instructions. This is a nonselective herbicide that will damage desirable plants so you may want to use the paint on rather than spray method of application. Good luck!
