The Q&A Archives: Do I cut down my bleeding heart for the winter months?

Question: Do I cut down my bleeding heat down for the winter months?

Answer: This plant can be cut back in either the late fall once frost has killed the top growth, or in late winter/early spring. Most gardeners do the job in the late fall as part of their end of the season garden clean-up. If you wait to cut it back in the spring, be careful not to damage the new growth coming up from the ground.
