Having a problem keeping weeds out of my Iris bed..what can I use that will not harm my iris rhizomes ?

Using mulch in the bed is the best way to prevent weeds. If your weeds are already thick you can lay down black plastic on top of the weeds to smother them, and then lay down the mulch to hide the plastic. To make hand-weeding easier around the plants, water the soil well beforehand. I would not recommend any type of herbicide for fear it may also harm your iris.
