I would like to know if I should cut off the Festuca grass to a low mound for winter or just leave the plant as is...if so do I trim it down in early spring to allow the new growth to come up? I know a lot of grasses need trimmed off but this is the first year I have had Elijah Blue Festuca. I do not want to ruin it.

Thank you,
Sue

You can trim it off short in either late fall after freezing weather or in late winter/early spring, it is based on personal preference. If you wait and do it in the spring, make sure to trim before the new growth starts coming up at the bottom -- or you may accidently give it a "haircut."Enjoy!
