I planted a pieris in spring of 2004. It did well that summer & seemed to do well all winter, but due to a late heavy frost, it's new growth was effected. I trimmed all the dead ends off and it developed new growth, but no blooms. I assumed they were effected by the frost. It is now September, and I think it is trying to bloom! Do they normally produce the blooms (unopened) in the fall or is my plant just confused? |
Your shrub is performing perfectly. It sets flower buds now, they hang on the branches all winter like strings of pearls and then eventually open in the spring. Enjoy! |
