I need to move some of the boxwood that line our sidewalk. It is a beautiful hedge about 3' high but unfortunately the septic openings need to be accessed every two years and the boxwood are in the way. I don't want to damage them but just move them out a few feet. What do I do to ensure they live after being transplanted and how do I transplant them safely? |
You should be able to move your shrubs without too much trouble. Prepare the new planting site first, amendng the soil as necessary. Then dig your boxwoods and replant, watering in well after planting to help settle the soil. The cooler temperatures in fall, coupled with natural rainfall, should help your shrubs re-establish their roots without too much difficulty. Best wishes with your landscape! |
