Do Butterfly Lodges need to be made out of redwood?

I assume you mean places where butterflies "stay for the night"? No, any wood will do as long as it's not treated with chemicals in any way. Redwood doesn't rot nor does it need chemical treatment. Cedar would do the same. Don't sand or finish the wood on the inside, so butterflies will be able to cling easily to the surface. Enjoy your flying flowers!
