I just purchased a D.D. Blanchard Magnolia. I was checking your website for care instructions and noticed the tree size listed on the website is different than on the plant tag. I'm now concerned that this tree will be too large for our medium size backyard. The landscape size cited on Monrovia's plant tag is 30-35ft high, 15-20ft wide. And according to the website, the tree reaches over 50ft high and 35ft wide. Which is it? - Thank you for your prompt response.

Ultimate size of your magnolia will depend upon growing conditions (soil, climate, care), but typically these varieties of Southern Magnolia reach 30' high with a 20' spread in landscape situations. They do have the potential to reach 50', but they don't often do that. They do respond to pruning, however, so if your magnolia threatens to outgrow its spot in the garden, you can prune it to keep in under control.
