Question: looking for bright flowers lots of color and best clematis and flowering trees and schrubs

Answer: Peter,

Your question is several in one, so it is difficult to be very specific in a brief reply. For your southern zone most clematis will not do well (It's the heat zone not the cold zone that is the key in this situation). The Sweet Autumn clematis would be an option. The other large flowered clematis would be iffy and would definitely need a morning sun, afternoon shade location to have a good shot at doing well. Soil needs to be moist but not soggy.

For more plant ideas the following web site will allow you to search for Monrovia plants by name, by category (such as "shrubs" or "perennials") and/or by attribute (such as "showy flowers" or "summer flowering").

When a list of options is returned via the search, you can click on a plant to learn more about it and in many cases to see a photo too.
