The Q&A Archives: Rhododendron Companions

Question: What would be suitable companion foundation plantings with rhododendrons as major focus in an area appx 5 feet by 20 feet long?

Answer: Rhododendrons like acidic soil and most like shade from hot afternoon sunshine. With this in mind, camellias, azaleas, mahonia, kalmia and evergreen spirea would make fine companions to your rhodies.
