The Q&A Archives: Australian Tree Fern

Question: Need the depth and width of hole I need to plant an Australian Tree Fern.

Answer: There's no specific formula for planting or transplanting. The important thing to remember is that you'll want your tree fern to be planted at the same soil level as it was growing in the pot. You'll see a soil line or a water line on the main stem. Try to plant so the finished level is the same. To plant your tree fern, dig a hole a little deeper and a little wider than the current rootmass. Place the plant in the hole and backfill, tamping the soil down gently. Then water well to help settle the soil.
