I have cool greenhouse. Could you suggest a variety of camellias that would be suitable for growing indoors? |
A cool greenhouse will make nearly any camellia happy so your choice of plants will depend upon your color preference and preferred bloom time. Japonicas have huge blooms while the sasanquas are smaller but plentiful. And sasanquas also bloom earlier than japonicas generally do. Their blooming season begins in late fall and continues through early winter. Japonicas begin blooming in winter through early spring. Some favorites to consider include White: Alba Plena, Charlie Bettes, Conrad Hilton, Dear Jenny, Emmett Barnes, King Cotton, Nuccio's Gem, Silver Anniversary, White Empress; Pink: Berenice Boddy, Dr. Tinsley, Elizabeth Le Bey, High Hat, Kick Off, Lady Clare, Marie Bracey, Pink Perfection, Simeon; Red: Daikagura Red, Laura Walker, Reg Ragland, Terry Gilley, Tomorrow, Vulcan; Variegated: Carter's Sunburst & Sports, La Peppermint, Magic City, Margaret Davis, Mona Jury, Ward's Daikagura. |
