I am interested in planting flowering trees in my backyard. I am considering the following trees at the moment:
(1)Prunusmume'Matsubara Red'DBL RED-FL UME
(2)Prunus'Kiku Shidare'WEEPING CHRYSAN.CHERRY
I was wondering how well these trees will grow locally here? Do you have any recommendations of flowering trees for my region? Thanks for any suggestions that you can offer.

Prunus species grow very well in the Pacific Northwest, but they are subject to a fungal disease called brown rot. Some years the disease is worse than others, but it is unsightly so you may want to reconsider. Cornus (dogwood) are lovely landscape trees and will bloom in either pink or white; Golden Chain tree has attractive clusters of yellow flowers; Paulowina (Empress Tree) produces majestic looking upright flower clusters in a bright purple; crabapples bloom in bright pink. If you still can't decide which tree to plant, visit a local nursery during the season you want color in your landscape and see what's blooming there. You're sure to find just the right tree for your garden. Enjoy!
