How do you tell what color the bulbs are before planting? I'm new at this.

There really is no way to tell what color a flower bulb will produce by looking at the bulb. I'd plant them in the ground or in containers and wait until they flower next spring. When they do, you can place tags next to each with the color marked in indelible ink. After the foliage dies down you can dig them up and plant them in groups of colors or make a design with the colors. Good luck with your garden!
