I have 2 Miss Kim Lilacs and their leaves are all curled up, dried out and crunchy. I have entensively watered these shrubs. They were planted in April 2005 by a professional landscaper. Is this normal?

No, this is not normal. Unfortunately based on your description I am not able to tell you precisely what has happened. However, it is possible that they were either over or under watered after planting and during the growing season and have died. I would strongly suggest you contact the installer and/or retailer for help in troubleshooing the problem. YOur local county extension might also be able to help you diagnose the cause of the dead foliage. I am sorry you are having trouble with your plants.
