Hi there,

I just purchased one of your Waxleaf Privets from Pike Nurseries. After getting it home, I looked it up on the internet to get some info on the species and ran across a couple of websites that said that all parts of this plant are poisonous. Now I'm concerned about planting it in an area where my dogs and kids could get ahold of and eat its berries or leaves. Should I be concerned about this??

Thank you very much,
Jack Schiff

Jack,

Some parts of the plant are toxic, especially the berries. If your children are young and thus likely to not heed warnings not to eat plants then you probably need to consider a different plant for that area.

Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
