The Q&A Archives: African Iris Problem

Question: My two African Iris plants have been planted now for about a year. They were doing fine and for about 5 months now their green leave are dying out but the plant still look healthy for now just alot of dead leave are on the plant. Is there something I should do?

Answer: Melissa,

The effects of a long summer along with a little insect or disease here and there can leave the plant in such a condition. I would either do some selective trimming to remove dead foliage or wait until late winter and then cut the entire plant back to remove all the leaves. It will then regrow fresh new foliage.
