The Q&A Archives: Is this a pepper tree

Question: Is there a tree similar to the California pepper tree but does not producer the red peppers? It has the same similar leaves and weepy look but I do not see the peppers.

Answer: Schinus molle, the California Pepper Tree, generally produces red berries, however some trees develop mostly male flowers, in which case there will be very few to no berries at all. The tree you're seeing, if it is a California Pepper, must be producing mostly male flowers.
