This is a very difficult question to try to answer long distance. A 1 to 1 slope is extremely steep even for a rock garden and might need some permanent terracing (prior to planting) in order to avoid erosion and drainage problems. I would strongly suggest you consult on site with a professionally trained and degreed landscape architect or another professional with experience in drainage and grading to determine how best to handle the situation -- even if you plan on doing the work yourself. You will want to make sure that the slope is stable and also provide for planting areas on it. It may need bracing or require some special drainage techniques. Once you have worked out that part, you will be ready to select plants. Good luck with your project!
