I just bought a profusion beautyberry plant and worry that it does not have enough time to develop itself in the ground before winter. Can it stay in a container indoors all winter?

Callicarpa americana, the Beautyberry, is hardy in growing zones 7-10. Your winters will be a challenge for this plant, unless you can find a protected place (near a foundation, under an eave, etc.) in which to plant it. It won't make a very happy houseplant so I'd suggest finding a protected spot in your garden and simply sinking the pot in the ground. Next spring, when the garden begins growing again, plant your Beautyberry in its permanent spot. Best wishes with your garden!
