Answer: Callicarpa americana, the Beautyberry, is hardy in growing zones 7-10. Your winters will be a challenge for this plant, unless you can find a protected place (near a foundation, under an eave, etc.) in which to plant it. It won't make a very happy houseplant so I'd suggest finding a protected spot in your garden and simply sinking the pot in the ground.
