Have you heard of a spring bulb called golden charm? It's short and yellow.

In a quick search I found a low growing, species type tulip in yellow and white called "Golden Charm." Tulips of this type are generally under six inches tall, bloom early in the tulip season, and perennialize well if planted in a well drained location in full sun and if the foliage is allowed to grow and ripen fully in the garden. Here is the catalog listing for it. Please note I am not specifically recommending the company, I am just providing the link because there is a photo.

I hope this helps.
