When should we plant a small patch of rye grass seeds-- we want to cover a bare spot where my husband's tomato plants were and it looks so ugly now. I read somewhere that we could sow some rye seeds just to winter it over. Thanks |
Annual ryegrass makes an excellent cover crop in areas with mild winters such as yours. Your local garden center should have packages of ryegrass. Simply scratch the seeds into the soil and let the fall rains help keep it moist enough to germinate. In the spring, dig the cover crop into the soil and plant your veggies. |
