What do I plant in clay soil with full afternoon sun in the middle/lower southern region? The soil has been tilled 8-10

It sounds as though you've done most of the hard work - my only other suggestion is for you to work a few inches of organic matter into the bed prior to planting. Use compost, shredded leaves, or aged-manure. This organic matter will help hold moisture in the root area, yet help things drain well to keep your plants happy. Once you've incorporated some organic matter into the entire bed, you can choose from among the following plants that like hot sun and clay soil:
