The Q&A Archives: bugs on a magnolia

Question: i have white bugs on my magnolia... they arebt aphids they are larger..... can you help me save my tree? thanks

Answer: Debra,

It is difficult to know for sure without seeing the insects and the proper identification is important in providing the proper control. My best guess is that you have mealybugs on the magnolia tree.

I suggest you take a sample of the insects to your County Extension Office for identification, and if necessary, control recommendations.
