what is the proper winter preparation for moench frikartii asters?

Aster x frikartii 'Moench' requires a well drained location in order to survive the winter. In late fall after killing frosts, apply organic mulch over the root area. Wait until spring to trim it back to about two inches as the stems will help somewhat in protecting the crown during the winter. Good luck!
