The Q&A Archives: Are "Super Red Flowering Quince" fruit edible

Question: I have four

Answer: Chaenomeles japonica 'Moned,' a cultivar of what is commonly called Japanese flowering quince, is not the same as the tree that produces the traditional edible quince, which is a Cydonia. They are closely related -- but not the same. The Chaenomeles japonica fruit is technically edible but I think it is very sour. I hope this helps.
