The Q&A Archives: hibiscus

Question: i have some sort of tiny bug on my hibiscus. could it be aphids?
what can i do to get rid of them?

Answer: Your hibiscus might be infested with aphids (soft bodied sucking insects that congregate at the tender growing tips) or possibly spider mites (tiny insects accompanied by webbing on the undersides of the leaves). Both of these can be treated using a commercially formulated insecticidal soap per the label instructions. Spider mites can be difficult to control, so be very thorough in your spraying and repeat as indicated on the label. Also try to maintain a high humidity level around your plant as spider mites thrive in dry indoor air during the winter. Good luck!
