Ground cover for clay soil, on a slope. - Knowledgebase Question

Hello, We just put an inground pool in and we have a steep slopes on 2 sides around it. We live in Lexington NC and have clay soil. Need to get ideas for a shrub for on top of slope by fence and then some sort of ground cover for the slope down to the grass. Obviously it needs to be low maintence because the slope is steep. Thanks for your help!

Some of your groundcover options for that site include prostrate types of juniper and Setcreasea pallida 'Purple Heart' which is very low care. The following web site provides much more info on groundcovers for North Carolina:

For the shrub I'd try 'Sienna Sunset' dwarf nandina or 'Crimson Pigmy' dwarf Japanese barberry. This next website provides more shrub choices:
