Live in northeast Florida, want an attractive flowering evergreen shrub for west side of house. Thinking about the Princess Flower (Tibouchina).

Does this shrub completely die out in winter or will it stay green? I'm a little confused as to what I've read about it. Also want to plant it on west side of house which gets part sun in morning and more sun in afternoon/late day. Will it thrive okay or am I better off with the Mexican Petunia?

Thanks so much for your input.

Joann,

Tibouchina is only hardy to zone 10 and you are in zone 8 so it is not cold hardy enough for your area. Mexican petunia is plenty tough but is very invasive as it reseeds profusely.
