The Q&A Archives: Abrovities

Question: This past April, I planted 25 Abrovities. 4-5' tall I fed them three weeks ago with Bone Meal. I just noticed that the inside of the shrubs are turning brown. Can you tell me what would cause that to happen.

Answer: Based on your description, I think what you are seeing is a normal. Arborvitae goes through a seasonal change where the oldest foliage turns brown and drops every autumn. As long as it is only affecting the interior, older foliage it should be fine.
