I planted one of your miniature bearded irises in June this year, and was very surprised to see it blooming when I came back from a short vacation on October 8. I garden in Toronto, and we had a hot summer and had mild weather until now. Will this affect the blooming in the spring?

There are some reblooming iris varieties. Monrovia lists Iris pumila 'Baby Blessed' for example, a variety that may bloom a second time during the late summer. Perhaps this is what you are seeing. Enjoy!
