I am looking for a container plant that will also act as a screen (about 6 feet). I have a Mediterranean style garden.

Thuja 'Pyramidalis' (American Arborvitae) has a columnar growth habit and will adapt to growing in a container, and Bamboo is an excellent evergreen used extensively as a screening plant. Bamboo will add an element of interest on your garden - the foliage makes a rustling sound when there's a slight breeze - and there are many, many types to choose from.

Best wishes with your garden!
