When? how often? how far to prune? clematis are planted at base of arbor.

This clematis dies back during the winter and should be cut down close to the ground in late winter or early spring. This encourages vigorous new growth during the coming season. It regrows quickly and blooms on new growth -- so do not prune it during the summer. Enjoy!
